VISION presented the NoEs’ best practices at the 1st Industry Collaboration Event

The “1st Industry Cooperation and Transfer Exchange – From Research to Market” Congress took place in Saarbrücken, Germany on 6th and 7th May 2024. Presented by the TAILOR Network, one of the original members of the AI Network of Excellence Centres (NoEs), the congress was co-organised by the VISION project, CERTAIN, CLAIRE, DFKI, the Transatlantic AI Exchange, and TNO. The event served as a great platform for the introduction of the NoEs and sharing best practices of NoEs in the area of collaboration with industry.

The latest findings of cross-community survey on the best practices in industry-academia collaboration was presented by the VISION project team members, Elizabeth El Haddad (Inria) and Beatrice Bozzao (Intellera) who gave a shared keynote speech on Best Practices on behalf of the Cross-Network Working Group on Academic-Industry Collaboration coordinated by VISION.

The objective of the Cross-Network Working Group is to maximize the potential for innovation and AI technology transfer through the exchange of best practices, scouting for novel ideas and technology, and alignment of strategic roadmaps, all with a focus on integration to the AI-on-demand platform. Examples of success stories related to NoE project activities including testing and validation, financial support, social interaction & networking, Education, support to the R&I ecosystem and collaboration with EDIHs were highlighted, as well as challenges and recommendations for replicability and sustainability.

VISION was thrilled to learn that nearly all participants at the Congress were familiar with the Network of Excellence projects and when informally surveyed nearly one third had already participated in some capacity to a project activity related to research and industry collaboration! This encouraging display of awareness and involvement in the cooperation and transfer of knowledge and innovation from research to industry demonstrates the bright future of Artificial Intelligence and its practical applications in Europe.
